Buggies

Today, I found a little buggie crawling on the wall. I caught him in a glass and named him Fred. (I had a little Beetle, and Beetle was his name; and I called him Alexander and he answered just the same.)



Everybody say "HI FRED!"

So now there is a problem. Little Fred is not all that welcome in the apartment. However, he does not appear to be a biting kind of buggie, and he is growing on me.

As a result, I ask of you all, what should I do with Fred the buggie?

I probably would have opted for either "suck him up with the vacuum cleaner" or "flush him down the toilet." (I'd put him out in the snow before I squished him though. It's true -- those are stinkers!)

I would put him in the snow, and remind myself that I thought I saw on TV that flies can freeze solid over the winter, thaw out in the spring, and be just fine, so maybe beetles are the same.

We briefly had a mouse in my old duplex, and chased him around with much excitement one day. The shining moment was catching him in the warmer drawer of my griddle (turned off of course), running outside with the thing and opening the drawer to find him gone. Aaugh! I set up peanut butter traps and wondered what I'd do if I ever caught him, but there was never any sign of him after that.

If it was a yucky bug, it would have gotten the flush option or the "squirt with methanol until dead" option. The latter works well for spiders, I find.

I guess you taught little mousies not to come nosing around your house. Maybe he got scared and left for calmer premises. ^_^

Actually, that's exactly what I did - Fred went into the basement, where he/it'll be warm and not in my personal living space. Outside would be the best option, but it's cold out there. Cockroaches I can stomp, but not non-disgusting bugs that aren't bothering anyone.

i was bored and found ur journal though looking through my friends' communities and what not and i clicked on ur journal cuz i love your icon.

anways....i love catching bugs inside my house! i always do it with a glass and a piece of paper...i never catch bugs outside of my house though cuz i believe that outside is their space, but since inside is my space i feel that i have a right to kill em! i usually keep them under a glass and put a cotton ball soaked with acetone inside the glass and watch the bug go crazy!

i know it's mean of me to do that with bugs but im mad i tell you, mad
