..because it's always a bit of a bummer when Christmas is over.

It was a nice holiday though, and it did last about three days when all was said and done. My husband and I had our own Christmas morning on Christmas Eve in the morning, and we spent most of the day playing with our new toys. He got a pile of Legos and some games and DVDs from me among other things, and I also got many nice things from him. Kingdom Hearts was under the tree, along with Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly, and then there were MORE baking books (Nick Malgieri is a god) and kitchen toys and things. Husband also got me Jessie the Yodeling Cowgirl from Toy Story 2 so she can sit with Woody. The hope was that perhaps the next time we see Toy Story 2 that I can hug Jessie and not bawl my head off during "When She Loved Me," but I fear it's a lost cause; I hug my Snowman during the film The Snowman and I'm still a mess at the end. The best present I got was another Burberry scarf; I didn't expect it and it was a happy surprise.

The Cowboy Bebop DVDs also arrived (finally) on Xmas Eve and the post office was about half an hour away from closing when I went there, so it was a lucky pinch. Got to watch Session 6 this morning; it's going to be a while before I finish the series. I need my husband to go away for another weekend so that I can watch the whole thing in one marathon session like Trigun.

We visited my mom and dad and had a nice dinner; piled into the car and got to Mass late. Originally we'd thought to go to Midnight Mass (which I like to do because it's QUIET, no screaming kids) but my mom was too tired. It was hot and the music was bad as usual. But, I go to Mass because I love my parents and I want to make them happy. We also watched "March of the Wooden Soldiers," a Laurel and Hardy classic, like we do every year.

Xmas morning was nice; my dad got us out of bed with his boat bell and an air horn. We would probably have slept till noon otherwise. The weather wasn't looking great for the afternoon, so we decided not to visit the family in the evening and to cut our visit with my in-laws short. Felt bad about that, but them's the breaks. My parents and in-laws got us the usual selection of "what a great present"-type gifts and the "what the hell were you thinking" gifts, but lots of nice stuff all in all. Husband got a little bitty remote-control car from my folks, and once he got it to work, he spent the morning chasing me around the house with it and bonking me in the feet. It's a cute little car. :)

It started to snow in earnest around 3PM and by then we were on I-95 headed home. It was slow going, and there was the usual contingent of stupid drivers out there who changed lanes for no apparent reason other than to make a dangerous situation even more so. Hubby wanted to take 476 to the PA Turnpike, but I insisted on I-95 and it turned out to be the right move. They were hardly out in force plowing - didn't see even one plow - but it wasn't too crowded. The rest of the way wasn't great but it wasn't terrible; we've both driven in worse. We got home in reasonable time and made a pork roast stuffed with dried fruit for dinner.

It was nice to spend Xmas night alone, too, instead of with the family. My folks called and you could hear my second cousin running around screaming in the background. I just have no patience for that right now, and even husband admitted that he didn't have the energy to play with my cousins. We would have been marooned there in all likelihood, and that wasn't an attractive option either.

Ah well, it's back to the lab now, and I have to get started writing something. Eck. Dopey me forgot her lab keys and I can't get to the lab software to install it on my dad's laptop. New Year's ought to be fun and then of course we're going to the football game this weekend. It is going to be a cold one and I hope the game will be exciting. The Giants make the playoffs if they win. Must set about getting husband a birthday present, too.

We got about 4-6 inches of snow when all was said and done; white Christmases are pretty rare in this portion of the country. It was lovely and fun once we were done driving in it. A picture of the outside of the apartment:

No snow here. Looks nice. :)

Hmm... Be prepared for very sore wrists when playing Kingdom Hearts. =P But you will get to see a lot of FF regulars and have a chat--even Wakka! <== won't you be so happy! heh heh

And I'm glad you got a replacement scarf. Perhaps you'll have to attach some sort of micro-homing device to it, to deter those who deal in the illicit trade of scarves ;)
