what next

Things Biscuit has eaten so far that are not kitty foods:

Pretzel
Pasta (cooked)
Soppresata rind

I am making dinner, slicing up some fruit for a salad.

Biscuit: PAPAYA

Me: Kitty, you really don't want any.

Biscuit: OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG PAPAYA

Me: We must not feed you.

Biscuit: WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT WANT

Me: If I give you this, you'll probably barf.

Biscuit: PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GIVE ME SOME PAPAYA BECAUSE ALL HUMAN FOOD IS VERY DELICIOUS

Me: *puts small piece on the floor*

Biscuit: NOM NOM NOM

Me: ...She ate the goddamned thing.

This makes me laugh so hard. :)

See what she does if you offer her citrus--ours get this offended expression with ears laid back and decide they don't want it after all.

My brother's cat would gobble it up. He loves citrus, especially grapefruit. XD

I'll try it this afternoon if she begs for some orange. :D

The damned dachshund and I have the same damned conversation most mornings and evenings.

I replace papaya with the following list of foodstuffs unexpectedly delicious to dachshunds, in order of enthusiasm:

- Blueberries
- Apples
- Carrots
- Bananas
- Tangerines
- Strawberries
- Blackberries
- Raspberries
- Pears
- Orange slice
- Celery
- Scallions
- Mesculin
- Lettuce in general

The damned dog eats more vegetation than Valerie does.

The dog eats more greens than I do, as well! Is there anything he doesn't eat?

Will Ripley eat cat treats, or is it all Purina, all the time?

LOL, that cat is so funny!

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 02:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Funny, but also annoying! It's going to be a trial when she gets big enough to jump on the counter unassisted.

[identity profile] lady-ganesh.livejournal.com 2009-01-09 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Start putting her food in the bowl. Even the stuff she begs for. Won't prevent everything (oh no!) but it'll help.

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2009-01-13 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
We do that already. She understands that the Good Stuff comes from the counter and squawks accordingly. Ack.

Cats have a very good sense of smell. It's a problem.

Awesome! I love the "It's Biscuit!" entries. :)

Hee hee, I'm glad to amuse.

Biscuit sounds like she might be related to my brother's cat. He can, and will, eat almost anything, even the things the Intarweb says cats don't like. His favorite food EVAR is bananas. No joke.

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 02:42 pm (UTC)(link)
But does your brother's cat eat delicious caek? :)

It's good to know it's not just my kitten that's a garbage can.

[identity profile] shadowmoonsedai.livejournal.com 2009-01-08 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
He does, in fact, like cake, but doesn't get that as often as he gets bananas. When he was a kitten, his favorite food was cake doughnuts - until he got a hold of a banana and it was all down hill from there.

my cat loves to beg for bacon. Then lick it alot. Then leave it alone and NOT eat it.

The cat of a friend of our family was named Peaches because she loved to eat bread and fruit. Heh

Our roommates' cats like Spaghettios.

You know, they did a study that said cats don't have sweet taste receptors on their tongues.

I think they did this study by not actually doing any research at all.

For future reference! http://www.cfainc.org/articles/plants.html It's good to know, because like, my cat loves tomatoes, and if we let her have pasta sauce, it has onions in, so we try to avoid that.
