It will be interesting to see how the end of this day turns out.
Hubby decided to take the day off b/c he had his committee meeting yesterday and he didn't get to see his mom for Mother's Day (plus he was tired.) Lucky for me, because somehow between coming home last night and bedtime, I managed to lose my car key. Not all the rest of my keys, mind you, just the car key. I have a little clasp that holds my key rings together so that I can detach certain keys if I need them in a hurry.
Happily, hubby was able to drive me to work, and I have another key in the desk. Of all the days to lose a car key, at least it was today so I could bum a ride.
We have our supergroup meeting tonight, which hasn't failed to annoy me yet. We already blow one afternoon a week on group blathering, and this is three groups' worth of blathering. At least we get fed, but it's just one more distraction that I really do not need.

I really understand this... at this point, you probably just want to focus on your own work and be done. Even last fall, I was feeling like every day spent teaching or at a meeting was another day tacked on to the end of my sentence in grad school. I felt like the finish line was in sight, but that I was running on a treadmill fifty yards away from it. Ack.
Anyway, hang in there...you're on your way. Do you really have to listen and ask questions at supergroup meeting, or can you space out and think about other things (like what you'll do the next day in lab)?

Yes, thank you, that's it exactly.
Glad you understand. It's like it's just One More Thing to get in the way and eat my time. This is a sterling argument for
more effective time management, but hell, it's me. Come on. That and I hate hate hate sitting in seminars and through talks. It makes me itchy.
I think I can space out. But spacing out usually equals falling asleep. :)

Hehe... I'm with ya, sister.

Mmm... sleep. I usually scribble and doodle a lot. I tend to be a listmaker, too, so I usually took advantage of lab meeting time to plan out my week (or weekend). :)

I hope you can find your car keys when you come home later today... at least they should be at home somewhere right ? And good that it was just the car keys and not all the rest of the keys...
It's a good idea to keep meeting activity to a minimum when you feel you have other things to do. They really can eat up a lot of time and with minimal productivity, but they keep ppl happy and in the know...

The whole purpose of this meeting is rather peacock-y, "gee let's show off how big our group can be." Someone else in the dept started with these supergroups and now everyone else has to have one too. Argh.

Rated #1 in customer satisfaction (errr.. Okay like maybe I should wait to say that after I actually get a customer =P).
And I am not hyper. really!

Re:
That sounds like just about the only place your keys could be if they're not in the house or haven't fallen out of your pocket when you walked out of the car. But I guess you would have noticed if the car keys were missing when you took out the house keys to lock yourself in when you got home.
