(no subject)

Weekend's over.

Festivus at the Q's was pretty much okay; the food was great of course. Dealt with Ginger decently this time. She wasn't feeling well so her energy level was tolerable.

Thanksgiving and other large-scale gatherings remind me of why I like to disappear for half an hour at a stretch to get away from the psychic press of too many people.

The drive home last night was not something I want to repeat anytime soon. Driving home in a steady downpour on roads that are flooding do not do good things for the adrenaline levels.

Some annoying person sniped one of my dj's last night on eBay. Must have been at the absolute last minute, or else the winning/losing page wasn't updated properly. *grumpy* At least the two I was really gunning for are in my theoretical possession. And with 19 minutes and a large bid on one... this humble person can't say she's innocent.

Hope everyone else had a good weekend.

19 mins isn't so indecent... and that is too little time for most ppl to decide if they want to put more money on the table.

You can check reload time :) on the browser by reloading and see how many seconds goes by before the browser is up again. That way you know how often you have to check the page in the last mins before an auction ends. Putting in a high bid in the last mins also reduces the chanches for anyone making a last min snipe.

But good to hear you got the djs you really wanted to. I'm looking forward to seeing your dj scan web site now. :)

I guess you don't want to play Colin McRae Rally after that drive ?

Actually it's my own damn fault for not waiting till the end of the third auction. Two of them ended within one minute of each other, and the third about fifteen minutes later. I was tired of sitting on the comp so I waited till the first two were done and then left. My mistake.

You'll be the first to see my silly site. :) I plan to launch it at the same time as Storm Front so it could be a while. :)

No more driving games... O_o I play them every morning.

When I snipe, I usually wait till under the last minute, sometimes even under 15 seconds--but then you have to worry about there not being some *glitch* or slow down of the server.

Of course, that's assuming the auctio doesn't end at some odd hour, like the middle of the night. @_X

*laughs* I think someone with your philosophy got the better of me last night. But that's all right - win some, lose some.

With luck, the item will come around again, and it's money spent somewhere else.

Well, let's just say I learned from being sniped myself on countless occassions... Now, I only do it if it's something I really want--though last time I tried to snipe, my bid was outbid anyways, since the other person had set a really high bid on the item. @_X

*pretends to look superior* Serves you right! Heh heh.

I set a huge bid on one of my desired items, but no one else tried to grab it. Lucky for me.

Great ! I'm looking forward to seeing it whenever you launch it.

Innocent, I Swear... This Time...

I get so terribly evil when I'm "ebay-ing"... *grin* But I often get the wind knocked out of me, so it all works out. There's either a glitch or some seriously interesting screw-up with the whole bidding process... or, better yet, someone likes to tail me and bid about 3 cents less than my top bid. That's always fun.

I love Festivus! *grin* That one and the one where Jerry dates the chick with the huge toy collection always bring me to tears. Glorious...

I've never seen the Seinfeld with Festivus, though I heard something about an Aluminum Pole and the Feats of Strength. Maybe someday I'll catch the actual ep.

BTW, did you know that the Soup Nazi is a real person?

*laughs* On eBay, what goes around comes around. Sadly, the sniper can often expect to be sniped. The karma cancels out, that's how I look at it.

*puts on a robe and looks all smart-like* We are all equal, on Ebay.

I'm sure the Festivus episode will be on around Christmas, several times. *grin* It's really good. The Airing of Grievances is the best part.

*makes a note to research "Soup Nazi", as it sounds funny and interesting at once*

*starts humming "Karma Chameleon"*

Glad to hear you had a good Turkey Day, but sorry to hear about the drive...ack. I *hate* driving in the rain at night...

Spending time with family (no matter whose) can be quite draining. Sometimes when I get back from those vacations, I feel like I need another vacation! We didn't make it home this past weekend (to either house), which was a bummer, but we had a good time nonetheless. Aside from a football guest or two, it was just the two of us. :)

Anyway, welcome back. Hope your day is going better than mine is!

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2001-11-26 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like you're having an interesting day back indeed. Hope yours gets better! The bossman has been quiet today so far.

Family time is draining. It's fun - but for about two hours, half an hour if children are involved. We were fortunate in that my uncle's hellions went elsewhere for dinner. Sorry that you didn't make it home, but sometimes it's nice to have a holiday with just the two of you.

Driving in the rain at night... *shudder* it was one of those drives where you keep the car on the road by instinct and by following the taillights of the car in front of you. I don't see so well at night anyway so it was a real test of nerves.
