(no subject)

I'm obsessed with this song after hearing it at Otakon. It was used in a Rurouni Kenshin AMV. You all should hear it too.

No Ordinary Morning - Chicane

One thought surpasses all others these past few days: MORE TRIGUN

You'd think my experiments and my thesis would be more pressing, but no... Curse you, mail service.

And things are getting worse because I was mightily amused that on Sunday I was watching Trigun and then I turned off the DVD player and the Star Trek: The Next Generation with Vash in it (Picard's old flame, not the Stampede) was on so it must have been destiny.

And don't get me started on how amused the postdoc's incessant requests for the other postdoc to go buy doughnuts makes me.

*hopeless*

*starts the hopeless club*

*makes Arafel president*

heh heh.

Which vash was it? The first time they meet, the Q-pid one, or I think there was one other...

Hmm... I think it was "Q-pid." The one where he makes Picard Robin Hood, and Vash is Maid Marian. It was a very cute ep.

I remember that one. :) I think Vash was in 3 episodes, and she was in one of Deep Space Nine too, IIRC.

Bahahaa... I love that episode. Best Worf line ever:

"Captain, I protest! I am not a 'Merry Man'!"

Ha ha... yeah, that was great. In the Good Old Days of ST:TNG. The only 'con I've been to besides Otakon was a ST con in Valley Forge, which for the record was quite lame. It did, however, give me an introduction to slash when I saw a drawing of Kirk and Spock in bed together on what was obviously a fanfic novel... O_o

I'm laughing just remembering that one. When Troy shot Data with the arrow and he just pulled it out and walked away... something about that never fails to get me every time... *grin* Hell, that one even got my mother watching the show.

*L* "Do not worry, Counselor. I think your aim is improving."

I like the song! I also liked the download speed. My gerbil was able to retrieve it in about 1 second. (Note for future reference). :)

Mmm...doughnuts...

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2002-08-14 08:34 am (UTC)(link)
Fear the gerbils! ;)

*Homer Simpson voice* Mmmm..... doughnuts.... (brought Munchkins this morning)

Heh heh, you're a anime otaku now ! ;)

So Vash is a female name in English, or is it just a fantasy name coincidentally used in the ST series ?

I hope the rest of the Trigun eps reach you lightning quick and deliver more doughnuts, I mean anime fix, to you. :)

*grins* Getting there, getting there... the DVDs got here last night.

Vash is a fantasy name that was coincidentally used in the ST series. It's pronounced differently though. ST Vash rhymes with wash; Vash the Stampede rhymes with mash.

Heh heh, seems like Vash got here this morning too, the garden was in a shambles and Susee had this sick grin on her face. :))

Oh, you got a package in the mail then? :)

So Trigun is a pretty good anime? I have been thinking of getting some movies/DVDs and have been looking at those. Might give them a try.

I like Boston Cremes please.

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2002-08-14 08:37 am (UTC)(link)
Trigun is a pretty fun anime so far. I've only seen 6 eps. If you want to get into any of these serial animes, though, I'd recommend either trying to rent them or getting the bootlegged copies off of eBay. I realize this is not very honest, but Pioneer charges $30 for 3 eps, and that's outrageous.

[identity profile] lordraziel.livejournal.com 2002-08-14 10:05 am (UTC)(link)
I may try to rent them first. Wonder if Blockbuster has them, we don't have much in the way of anime around here. Not that I know of at least. I don't really need to be spending the money on it anyway. Just bought BO2 and that DC and I have Onimusha 2 and Kingdom Hearts on pre-order. That's enough money on non-essentials I guess. (Though I could argue about videogames being essential!! :D)

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2002-08-14 02:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It's been my experience that Blockbuster has very little. Your best bet is to try local, mom-n-pop chains where you might get lucky. Sometimes the owner will have an interest in anime and hence will have more variety for rent. I suppose I could ship you my first DVD if you were very interested! :) Then you could send it back when you were done.

Where are you from originally? I read that you are from the US, or at the least you went to Lehigh, but your "speech" is laced with Britishisms (i.e. "fancying" something instead of "liking" something.) Hope you don't mind me asking. :)

I'm sure they make decent doughnuts in England, no?
