1. You can't win, you can only break even.
Energy is conserved; different forms of energy can interconvert, but the sum remains constant.

2. You can only break even at absolute zero.
The entropy of an isolated system always increases, except in very specialized, small systems.

3. You can never reach absolute zero.
The entropy of any pure, perfect crystal can be chosen as equal to zero at a temperature of 0 Kelvin.

(practically, you cannot reach absolute zero; researchers have come close, but almost by definition you cannot reach it. Absolute zero is the temperature at which all molecular motion ceases.)

Four Principles of Clear and Forceful Style

I. Express Crucial Actions as Verbs

II. Usually Use Verbs Only For Expressing Actions

III. When Appropriate, Express the Agents of Those Actions as the Subjects of Those Verbs

IV. In General, Try to Make the Emphasis of the Substance Coincide with the Emphasis of the Structure

Interesting you should post this today, I just fgot my Understanding Thermodynamics book today. And darn it! I will break that second law of thermodynamics! *gives laws of thermodynamics a big raspberry*

Err... I can dream can't I? =P

Thermodynamics is way over my head, I'm just depressed about that Goddess thing. Here I always thought that you were!
