(no subject)

I've never made any pretense about my writing ability, or lack thereof.

But this person puts me to shame.

I'm still reading the original stuff. Lordy it's nice to read good work...

I don't know about that... I read some of her writing, and I was a bit distracted by the liberal description of things. Of course, I think I'm just in an overly critical phase right now--gotta let the On Writing and Elements of Style work it's way out of my system--at least the pompous effects--the practical things can stay...

All I can say, is I have enjoyed reading what you have wrote. I don't think I'm yet qualified to say whom has better technique (between you and her), but I can honestly say, I enjoyed your writing more--I was able to embrace your stories easier, and let them pull me into their own reality; maybe the subject matter itself is the reason. But enjoying a story, no matter what other considerations, I think it the ultimate measure.

Fair enough. I read her FF fanfic and a couple of the shorter stories, and found them to be a good read; everyone has their preference. :) And I can see how reading a couple books on how to write would make one more aware of where there might be potential troubles!

Thank you for your compliment on my writing. My feeling is that I'm good enough to understand where all my weaknesses are. I've read piles and piles of books and I have a hypercritical mind, and my own stuff is no exception. I could never be happy putting something out that was less than perfect.
