nerdy happy

*happy squeak*

I got my new 10-100 microliter pipettor today and Eppendorf sent me one of those neato ballpoint pens that looks like a little pipettor! They also sent me a really nice box of tips.

Cool!

It doesn't take much to make me happy. :D

Those pens look neat !

And neon colored tips or eppendorf tubes are cool !

One of my lab mates used to have neon colored lid tighteners for eppendorf tubes hidden in her lab drawer b/c everyone else would go stealing them whenever we tried them since they looked so cool.

Those little screw caps? For centrifuge tubes? :)

It is neat when the companies make things like neon caps and wild stir plates to liven up the lab. It seems silly but it does make the work more fun.

Whenever a new postdoc joins our lab, they are allowed to buy something for themself (within reason). It's meant to make them feel more "at home," and the item has to stay behind when they leave. One of our postdocs a few years ago decided to buy an Eppendorf pipettor since that's what she used in her old lab, and all of ours are from Rainin. She, too, got the nifty pen...we were so jealous of it!! When she left, she left the pipettor behind (it is now collecting dust in a drawer because we all prefer our Rainins), but took the pen with her... heh...

Now you have one!! *nerdy jealous* :)

Heh heh... If I ever get another one, I'll send it to you.

You know, I bet you could call Eppendorf up and wheedle pens out of them. Sometimes if you're totally brazen, they'll give you stuff. I got a T-shirt out of Fisher that way (and when you were talking about your shirt with a big strand of DNA on it, I was dying laughing... thinking about my own shirt with a lab rat on it.)

Do you suppose we aught to set up a little club for people with these pens? They give a very satisfying blue line I feel.

It's a very exclusive club, and you have to show proof of pen. If someone swipes your pen, well too bad for you. :)

The girl used to describe me as a "tea-leaf", being the cheeky cockney lass from Surrey that she was. When I walk up to a products display I pride myself on the number of freebies I walk away with. Generally this backfires as I end up having to talk to reps. Which is why I have a positive displacement pipette sitting on my bench at the moment for a 'trial'.
