Hmm... maybe you can try some kind of semipermanent color? If the color is done right, it shouldn't leave you bald. It's when the colorist strips all the color out (i.e. making someone platinum blonde) that you run into the trouble you describe. :)

This happened to a girl in my high school orchestra... she decided to go platiunum and perm her hair at the same time. There was very little hair left at the end of the process. Probably not the look she was going for!

I keep seeing ads in magazines for this particular bright red color gel... I'm really going to have to try it one of these days. Hopefully nothing too dangerously chemical will happen. *grin*
