sick again

I have lots of things I could post about, but mostly I'd like to stop coughing. Thanks to all the pathogens JP has been bringing home, I have gotten sick more often in the last year than I have since high school, and this latest bug has been making me cough till I'm breathless. Tomorrow I will go to the MD to get some cough medicine, and I'm half hoping and half fearing that they'll give me codeine. Hoping for it because it works; fearing because it makes me hyper, and while it's in my system, I rattle on about nothing in particular to whoever is listening. It also keeps me up at night.

Husband is downstairs playing L. A. Noire, and shortly I'm going to curl up in bed and play something with Final Fantasy in the title. It will be so nice to get my energy back when this is over, and not from codeine.

:) I was thinking of you because I was playing through Zidane's initial storyline in DDFF. FFIX has the prettiest Overworld theme!

Baw, now you're gonna make me get one of them warm fuzzy feelings.

FFIX's overworld theme is the closest we get to my beloved 'Song of Memory' or 'Melodies of Life' appearing in DFF so I'm pretty fond of it too. Though I actually prefer the DFF remixes of Blue Fields and Terra's theme; more ominous and therefore more fitting for the shitstorm that's about to proceed.

I probably ought to re-visit FFIX. I never played it because I was coming off the realism of FFVIII in terms of character design and was just about to get into FFX when I owned the game. Now that I've played the more cartoon-y (for lack of a better word) previous games in the series like FFIII, FFIV and FFVI, I can appreciate the throwback nature of the game.

Well I played FFIX first and thus found the transition from that to FFVII to FFVIII rather difficult. IX is both a throwback to the goofier old FFs (it probably resembles V the most in terms of tone) and sort of takes the traditional roles and themes and expands them. It has a surprising depth to it once you look past all the sillyness and cutesy style. Storywise it's very charming (even if it does borrow far too many plot elements from older FF titles) but the gameplay sucks. I say that as a fan who has played it far too many times: it sucks and is so uninspired that you will grind your teeth more than your party.

A couple people in the office also seem to have the sniffles. Boo. Hope your kid feels better soon.
