A happy day off

As the title says, I didn't go to work today because one of my very best friends was graduating from med school. It was quite nice to be away from the lab for the day, and then to spend it with my friend. He was really happy that I'd come, and after the event (which was rather boring, truth be told) a bunch of us went out to lunch. We finished lunch with some enormous gloppy sundaes, yum. I can't remember the last time I had a sundae.

After that, I went out to the mall to heat up some credit-card plastic. There was a graduation present to be bought for the party on Sunday, and then that double boiler I wanted just couldn't sit on the shelf any longer. Also found a beanie baby named Kaleidoscope, one of the beanie cats.

Once I finally got home, I attacked my closet for some spring cleaning. The amount of clothing one can accumulate in a short time is amazing. How did I ever get to be such a clotheshorse? Tank tops in every color of the rainbow (well not yellow or orange; hate those colors..) Seems I have a lot of two things:
1. Underwear
2. Socks

Guess having too many beats not having enough by a long shot...

Then I debated whether to bake lemon bars or brownies, but there just wasn't enough time in the evening so it will have to wait for tomorrow. *sulks*

Steve is off in Ottawa for a few days; being alone is a bit lonely but I plan to enjoy the freedom while it lasts. Not that being married is stifling, but it's nice to only have to look after oneself. Gab on the phone, hang out online, write, watch whatever I want on TV.

Back to work tomorrow. *sigh*

Sounds like you had a good day and no problems finding out what you're gonna do in the day.

What's a boiler ?

I agree about the clothes, they tend to just get into the closet and stay there. I think I do closet cleaning 4 times a year and it's still stuffed. I can only wear so many sets of clothes per day so it automatically limits how much clothes I need.

Yep, sounds like a good day off for sure. It is nice to have some private time for yourself. But it gets lonely fast when the family is away.

Make Brownies....I like brownies better than lemon bars. :)

FireC, a double boiler is a pan with another pan that sits on top of it. I think.

Oops.. I didn't see the question. A double boiler is a set of two pots. One sits snugly on top of the other one. If you have something that needs to be gently heated, like chocolate, you put water in the lower pot and heat it, then put the chocolate (or whatever) in the upper pot. It's like a steam bath.
