sick bastards

To whoever changes the channel to Food Network at the company gym:

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU?

I was there today, toddling away on the stationary bike with about six other employees, and everyone's mouth was watering (except when Paula Deen came on. fried butter balls? come on now) and isn't that NOT THE POINT OF GOING TO THE GYM?

Am I wrong here?

Maybe someone working at the gym is a real sick puppy, trying to tempt everyone like that. Either that or they're looking out for the future of their business. ;)

ROTFL.

Some sicko did it! Somebody has a really sick sense of humor.

Besides the 'cruel and unusual sense of humor' theory, I'm also picturing some sort of cartoonish strategy there--set a TV showing images of tasty food in front of the bikes and treadmills, and watch as everyone pedals/runs faster in a vain attempt to reach the deliciousness!

Except whoever came up with the idea forgot that it doesn't actually work in real life.

My gym gives out free pizza once a month.

I figure it's just to make sure it gets repeat business.

Now, to me, that would be incentive. As in, "I am working out here so I can have one piece of that, and if I burn X more calories, it can be a large piece!" :)

Masochism for the win?
