Cut for length

Part I. Anime

1. What was your first anime? Star Blazers. I remember watching this before leaving for first grade.

2. How were you introduced to anime? I watched shows like Voltron and Star Blazers and noticed that there were tapes with the same sort of animation style in the video store from time to time. I can't remember which non-American-TV anime I first watched, but it might have been Fist of the North Star or Vampire Hunter D.

3. What are your anime obsession/fandoms? Trigun, Bleach, Samurai Champloo

4. What were some fandoms that you lost? None in anime/manga fandom.

5. What is your genre preference? Scifi, fantasy

6. What was your first anime movie that you've watched? Not sure, maybe Vampire Hunter D

7. What was the first anime you've bought on vhs or dvd? Either Sailor Moon or Magic Knight Rayearth.

8. Do you buy a lot of anime merchandise, and if so, what? Not really, although I've bought two silver Rose Signets.

9. Sub vs. dub? Sub for series that are supposed to be set in Japan, like Bleach or KareKano. Dub for series where the characters are supposed to be speaking English, like Hellsing, Trigun, and Witch Hunter Robin.

10. What are you currently watching now? Nothing. I've been meaning to watch Chevalier D'Eon for a year.

Part II. Manga

1. What was the first manga you've read? Ah! My Goddess!, when Dark Horse was releasing it as a comic.

2. What was the first manga you've bought? Same as above.

3. How many volumes do you have now? Don't have much manga left; I've sold off most of it. I have one or two left.

4. What is your favorite manga (only, that's not made into an anime)? Every manga I've read has been made into an anime except for Sword of the Dark Ones.

5. What manga have you've been waiting for to be translated for a long time? None.

6. Do you buy manga monthly? No, I've never been an avid manga reader, and they're not cheap.

7. Is there a manga series that you prefer as an anime? And vise versa? The Hellsing manga is darkly hilarious, but I like the anime because I like the voices. On the flip side, I like Death Note better as a manga.

9. Do you prefer actual manga vs. scanlations? Don't really care.

10. What manga are you currently waiting to be released this year? None.

Part III. Anime vs. Manga

1. Which do you prefer? Anime. When I read, I prefer text-only, and anime is more entertaining to me.

2. Do you appreciate the art more in anime or more in manga? Given the quality fucking animation in many series where it drags on too long or goes into fillers (I'M LOOKING AT YOU, BLEACH), the manga art usually wins. The exception to this in my experience is Samurai Champloo.

3. Do you like drama cds? No, but I probably would if I could understand them.

4. If you had to choose, would you work for a manga company or an anime company? Neither one of them pays much, do they?

5. If you ever had your own manga made into an anime, would you want it to or would you not want it to be made? It would depend on how much creative control the acquiring company would allow me to retain.

There's nothing like a little practicality XD

If you can't do it for the love, do it for the money! XD
