FFIII

I bought a Nintendo DS Lite recently, and a couple of games to play on it. Among them was FFIII, which is cute like many buttons.

Also, it is HARD!

I just got through the part where you fight Garuda, and it took me six or seven tries at level 31. It took making all my characters Dragoons and equipping them with two spears each to win the fight. Those damn Wind Spears were expensive, too!

On a side note, FFIII pathos is very hard to take seriously when all the characters look like dollies. People are dying and my reaction is "eeeee, cute!"

'Twould be fun to cosplay Refia, though, except for the part where she's 10 and I'm not.

I am not sure if I ever beat FFIII, I do remember a lot of the older ones required a lot of just runnin around fighting in order to make them easily doable though

Isn't leveling up part of the fun in FF? XD

I don't believe that FFIII was ever released in the US, but maybe you played an emulator version that had been translated?

Ooh, you are prob right. I think that one was deemed too difficult for Americans lol

FFIII was never released outside of Japan before, you're right about that. But there were translated version around...

Even worse, the first Final Fantasy game that was available over here in Europe was FF7... at least we could get the PSX version when they came out. =)

Still, no CT... =(

I'm really confused as to what age everyone's supposed to be. They look like little kids, but... Refia treats Alus like a little kid, saying stuff along the lines of "Hey, what were YOU doing in a BAR? You're not old enough!" So he must be younger than them, but he's still old enough to go running around on his own...

I'm thinking mid-teens. Have you seen the screenshots of FFIV DS yet? Cecil looks the same way, in his cute little chibi Dark Knight armor.

*laughs* I took Refia's comment like a little kid's challenge - she's not old enough to be in there either, but she's putting on a show. Arc is so cute - I want to pat him on the head. The whole damn game is cute, like how Refia's black mage hat has a bow on it, because she's a girl. And she has a braid poking out the back of her Dragoon helmet.

Haven't seen the FFIV screenshots yet. You mean I'm going to have to get a third copy of it? XD (I bought the Chronicles version, forgot about it, and then bought the Advance version.)

Arc is the cutest of ALL. I love his post-battle animation, where everyone else is looking cool (or at least trying, in their little SD ways), and he's just glancing around like "Oh my... I hope we got them all." Totally going to cosplay him, and make [livejournal.com profile] akatonbo Refia.

And you know, I said the same thing when I found out. Except that for me, it was "...They're making me buy a FOURTH version of the game?" XD I'd only just started on the Advance version, too. Of course, I know the game so well by now that I've breezed through it in a couple weeks, and just finished the new dungeon. And am snickering at the fact that I can take Edward to the last dungeon. He'd totally pee his pants.

Refia looks so worried after battles - "I hope everyone's all right!" Better than that is when you're at a shop and you're going to buy something Ingus can use. He glowers and looks pensive until you select the item, and then he smiles and looks up: "You're going to buy me something? :D "

I dunno who Edward is. Is he the spoony bard? I haven't started IV yet.

Edward is indeed the "Spoony Bard". I love Final Fantasy translation work. =)

I just got a DS lite and was eyeing FFIII. Hmmm...maybe I'll purchase after I play through Lunar.

I'd be happy to loan it to you, provided I'm finished with it. :) I owe [livejournal.com profile] jaina a visit, perhaps we can all get together.
