Reflections on Paranoia Agent

That was a 13-episode-long mindfuck.

And I enjoyed it muchly.

They're supposed to be making a second season. I hope [livejournal.com profile] kyburg posts more on that soon.

I'm not sure where you'd go with a second season, to be honest! It kinda wrapped up there at the end.

Isn't it creepy? Thank god in-line skating has mostly gone out of fashion, because now I twitch every time a youngish kid skates by.

Great, now I'll be twitching too. XD

Love your icon.

I loved this series but I gotta say I liked the first half better than the second. Although some revelations were given in the end were fascinating, I felt as though it was a little rushed and they left to many unanswered questions. I'd ask you these questions, but I don't want to put spoilers in here.

Go ahead and post spoilers; this is an old entry now. I'll flag it as spoilerated.

I agree that after Maniwa and Ikari got sacked that the series wandered. The suicide trio was funny in a very black way, but it had nothing to do with the story at hand. Same with the four housewives. The ending was bizarre, but it did come full circle, and the end of an anime series never bothers answering all your questions.

If that weird, role-player kid was an imposter, why did lil' slugger continue to look like him?

What happened to Maniwa at the end? Why did he take the place of that old man? What the hell was that old man about in the first place?

Heh. I know these questions are more or less unanswerable.

The series really impressed me in a personal way. Being a little emotionally cornered lately myself I could kinda see how a lil' slugger might be good thing. I think I liked the first few episode the best because it showed how individuals needed and benefited from lil' sluggers attacks.

It even got amusing after a while. "Oh no! Look out! He's a gonna getcha!"

The only thing I can add in a discussion about the ending is I think it was applied that people in Tokyo had learned that it was better to deal with their problems head on rather than make excuses, as was evidenced by the different type of phone conversations in the last episode.
