Gnaaaaah

Had to go to dentist yesterday to get two cavities drilled and my jaw is still sore. When I ate my lunch today, the chewing pressed down on the new filling, and I went from "mmmmtasty" to "OMG OUCH" in about three seconds.

I finished RahXephon the other night, and it has done nothing to dispel that aura of Evangelion, only it's 100X less annoying than Evangelion. At least you had SOME idea of what happened at the end besides "Shinji is such a little wanker - why is everyone applauding for him?" I bought the box on sale from ADV, dispelling the "If I bought the box, I will never finish the series" curse. But then, I received the box after I finished the series, so does the curse still count?

Made some Bleach icons last night, which of course is the real reason for this post. GIP.

Ouchie! I am sorry about your teeth, and hope that you feel better soon.

Eh, I'm looking at it as a possible benefit that eating is uncomfortable for a while. :)

RahXephon...

I watched the entire show with a friend and at the end, we both stood up and starting screaming at the TV. But we had been confused for the last few volumes, so we should have expected nothing less.

We eventually calmed down and worked out what (might have) happened. But it took a lot out of us.

I guess the end of RahXephon made more sense if you knew the Nahuatl legend at all for background (which I didn't.) It's like having a grasp on nonduality to get the end of Eva.

*shudders at the thought of dentists and their slap happy drills* I hope the soreness goes away so you can enjoy your tasty meals again.

Speaking of Evangelion, the last two eps really threw me for a loop. Guess that's what happens when the studio runs out of money- and time- to turn a great series into crap.

They made the last two eps crap, and then made two confusing movies to make up for it. Way to go, Gainax!

I hate going, but Dr. Falcon was very nice and she gave me lots of Novocaine to make 100% sure I was numb when the drilling started to hurt. I love her for that.

Ouch! Sorry about the teeth! If they're still sore, you might try putting a little clove oil on them; it's always worked when my teeth hurt.

OMG THANK YOU, I was beginning to think I was the only one who felt that way. Evangelion + Me = HATE, RahXephon + Me = ...well, maybe not LOVE, but I wouldn't mind dating it for a month or two.

Oh, definitely not. I liked Eva, but I didn't like Shinji - all his whining didn't make him noble or conflicted to me, it just made him irritating. Ayato is much more likable, though his Pollyanna attitude gave him a one-dimensional feeling sometimes. And at least he didn't wank on anyone. On the contrary, Ayato seems to spend the whole series fending off the ladies. XD (though the *spoiler* with Ayato and *spoiler* was creepy, IMO - rob the cradle much?)

I saw Eva too late, I think--all the characters I ended up being interested in were adults (Misato, Kaji, Ritsuka), while the 'main' characters (Shinji, Asuka, Rei) either bored me or annoyed to no end. Maybe if I'd seen it when I was fifteen I would have felt differently.

I can forgive a lot of Ayato's genericness because at least he, you know, does something about his problems, unlike Shinji the Amazing Twerp who just angsts at everything in hopes that it'll go away.

(though the *spoiler* with Ayato and *spoiler* was creepy, IMO - rob the cradle much?)

That was a little weird, wasn't it? On the other hand, there's that *spoiler* with Misato and Shinji in EoE, so maybe it's a crazy-mecha-anime tradition.

To be fair, they're the exact same age and knew each other as kids. It's just that... well, time passed differently on each side of the Jupiter barrier.

*pets her RahXephon for it is pretty and deserving of love*

Doesn't change that Ayato is effectively 17 and she's my age. While I've been known to rememeber the past very fondly (and despite that I'm married,) I'm not carrying a torch for anyone I knew at 17.

RahXephon is indeed pretty and deserving of love, but I reserve the right to find *spoiler* a bit icky. :)

Your icon could not possibly be more appropriate. XD
