The joy of science gooberdom

1. Peracetic acid is a commonly used bactericide and sporicide suitable for food contact surfaces.

2. We have plenty of peracetic acid in the lab.

3. There are lots of bacteria and spores and crud growing in my water bottle with the Festering Lemon in it.

4. Therefore, when I dispose of the Festering Lemon Science Project, I may treat the bottle with some peracetic acid, possibly enabling me to use the water bottle again without dying of food poisoning.

I love science.

Reminds me of when I first started at UD- someone's Dasani bottle had 'growths' in it..we looked at it under a microscope and it was algae! This was esp exciting to us phycologists XP

One fellow in my old lab had bright green algae growing in his Brita. He still used it, too.
