SC26
*tears* I was so afraid.
So afraid that the boys would both die.
Jin took Kariya's blade, twice.
Mugen got the shit beat out of him and then took a bullet.
Fuu was left facing Kariya with not even a prayer.
Are there any words to describe the end of this series?
I am thoroughly overwrought. For two and a half eps I was glued to the screen, on the edge, with Spike Spiegel's fate replaying over and over. The odds were a hundred to one against either of them - any of them - making it to the end, and then...
*sniffle*
I'm not ashamed to say that I cried. Each of them has their own epiphany, but Jin's is the easiest to catch if you're paying attention to what his sensei tells little!Jin about his skills. That his eyes are too good. I'm inclined to believe that Jin was wearing glasses not because he can't see, but because he can, and he's trying to understand that lesson. Then, when he learns to fight for Mugen and for Fuu, he doesn't need them any more, because he's fighting for someone besides himself.
At the end of the fight, when they still are going to battle one another, the shattering swords were so beautiful. Neither of them wants to fight, but they have to do it for their pride, and that was the only outcome that would have worked.
My god I'm getting all emotional about it.
Great series. Great ending. So rare to have a happy ending in anime. And, even though they're wandering, you know they'll find one another again. Jin will bring Shino, and Mugen will bring Yatsuha, and they'll all go to Fuu's teahouse. *happy*
