*sick*

Same-sex marriage bans winning on state ballots

Voters in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon and Utah all approved anti-same-sex marriage amendments by double-digit margins.

Like Jon Stewart said last night, I'm going to huddle in the Northeast and cry and thank God for living in NJ, where we have better things to do than thump the Bible.

Living in Kentucky, I am embarassed that apparently 75% of people I see every day think this is a good idea.

*hugs* My sincerest condolences. Talk about being a minority.

Thank god I wanted to get out of here anyway. Make room for me over where you are, k? I can't stand to stay here. Goddamn it.

I guess the only thing to be said for it is that it's no great surprise with that list of states. Whoever thought Kentucky or Utah were going to be pro gay marriage? The more sensible states, where it would have got voted down, didn't propose the ban in the first place.

True that, in Utah you can't even have a beer. It's a poor precedent one way or another, though.

Actually, you can have beer in Utah, but I think they just monitor the bars more closely. (I have a number of Utah-born Mormon friends from my days in AZ, and that's what they claim)... but, as for sensible states- well, Michigan, for all that it's largely democratic, is also rather on the catholic side, so unfortunately the ban passed- despite such marriages already being illegal here!!!! I swear, some things are just a waste of ballot paper and time. Grrr.

I'm so very torn between Canada and just... rage.

That's probably not quite what I meant to say, but... it works.
