Meme time! Tell me how much you luff me! Or not. :)

Part of being on Livejournal.com is inevitably gaining a number of LJ buddies. Unfortunately, as time wears on, it's easy to forget where all of them came from. Post this in your journal and have your friends respond with how they recall first 'meeting' you.

Anoldfriend from NR.

Likewise! ;)

[livejournal.com profile] jaina was all, "Yo, I met this cool chick online who likes our fic!" and I was all, "Dude, that rocks!" and she's all, "Yeah, and she's in Jersey!" and I'm all, "Awesome!"

Then I fired ze missiles.

>^..^

The cigarettes missiles are coming!

And lucky for me you live in Jersey because then you can come to Revenge of Anime Night someday. :)

You IMed me with flattery and sounded intelligent and I immediately thought you were teh win.

Flattery will get you everywhere. ^_^

[identity profile] dawnwalker.livejournal.com 2004-08-06 05:13 am (UTC)(link)
I first met you at NR as one of the Moderators. :)

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 04:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Alas, my fallen crown. Those were fun times, though, before Cybor went crazy. And that weird RPG... my brain still hurts from that. :)

[identity profile] fireceremony.livejournal.com 2004-08-06 09:30 am (UTC)(link)

We were two of the first on the old NR realm to say someone should write SR fics. :))) What a fun and interesting meeting and subsequent fic writing that was. You were one of the first female friends I had who liked gaming and anime. :)))

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 04:20 pm (UTC)(link)
You were one of the first female friends I had who liked gaming and anime. :)))

Me too, smilies included! Ah, the olden days, and of course you and I and the Baron wrote some of the best fics. (How ironic that husband is right now playing SR in the other room.) So glad we're still in contact.

[identity profile] fireceremony.livejournal.com 2004-08-12 09:41 am (UTC)(link)

The feeling is mutual! :))

I still have good feelings about the old SR game, particularly the start when you're in the youngst brother's lair with the cool music playing in the background. It had a cool atmosphere of semi horror and style that not many games have.

Does that picture icon mean we've become like two old horses? :)

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2004-08-13 01:28 pm (UTC)(link)
You're so right in that the music in SR is a good portion of the enjoyment. It's a damn shame that the follow-up was such fanservice.

Actually, the pic is of Smarty Jones, the almost-winner of the Triple Crown horse races this year, and I think it's funny because he's sticking his tongue out. But, I'll switch flies off your back if you switch them off mine! ;D

[identity profile] fireceremony.livejournal.com 2004-08-14 02:12 am (UTC)(link)

Of course, old buddy, neigh neigh! :))

Heh heh, I guess Smarty Jones lived up to his name on that picture. :)

So [livejournal.com profile] fourish was all like, "We should get together and watch anime all night," and I was all like, "Yeah, that'd rock," and then she was all like, "I have this LiveJournal buddy who wants to host Anime Night," and I was like, "LiveJournal? What's that?" and she was all like, "LJ is all the rage, man," and I was all like, "Whatever," and then we showed up at this hot chick's place and she served up anime and food and we all like had a totally tubular time, and I was all like, "Man, this chick rocks!"

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2004-08-08 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
And I was like, [livejournal.com profile] littlelicks is way cool and he's a One! And, um, like I want to hold Revenge of Anime Night ASAP.

Nerd power

I believe we first met when you added me via hot nerds. Sadly, you caught me at a bad time, and I haven't spent nearly the time posting and replying in the past few months that I once could- don't think I'm not interested! (the con stuff is actually pretty neat, and although I drive a Neon, car theft still worries me too)

Still, the most memorable exchange, I believe, came when I related my tales of woe in visiting the University of Michigan, throwing up on a professor's floor, and asking her whose lab she worked in...... speaking of which, how well did you know Melanie Sanford when you worked in a lab group with her? Any messages for me to give her when I get to Ann Arbor?

Re: Nerd power

[identity profile] arafel.livejournal.com 2004-08-09 06:35 am (UTC)(link)
*laughs* Oh dear... that experience at U of Mich was terrible. I did know Melanie reasonably well, but I don't think I have any particular messages for her. She was pretty surprised when I mailed her about the incident, though ("How on earth did you hear about that?")

Best of luck next year!

Oh no... she was reminded of it?? Oh my, I'll need to hide my head in a sandbath a little longer... :) In retrospect, of course, it was actually great recruiting- it's one thing for the faculty to be nice to you when they want something, but quite another when you've just thrown up on their floor and called them a grad student! Even there- I'm still laughing about the coincidence of you knowing her of all people as I bemoan my luck. Small world, isn't it?

Thanks- good luck to you too! You said you were doing analytical chem, right? A friend of mine just started a job in the field (with a bachelor's), but she says the repetition is the hardest part. How do you keep your mind engaged?
