A coincedence over the weekend
OK, I'm going to tell this story even if only NASCAR fans will get it. It was such a great coincidence.
I went to Monmouth Park on Saturday to play the ponies and make a few bucks. Sometimes we pick a horse based on stats, on jockey, on trainer, etc. Well.. in the third race there was a name we just couldn't pass up.
(People who do not know who Dale Earnhardt is may stop reading now.)
In the THIRD race
the THIRD horse
was named... Little E.
It was just too much. I placed a nonsensical $3 across-the-board bet (win place show total $9) on Little E (most of the time I bet the minimum $2 and that's it) along with my dad.
And the race started...
Little E went up to second and faded. Then, as the horses were reaching the backstretch, she picked up again...
and ran faster
and she surged ahead and WON THE RACE by half a length!
My dad and I went nuts. I know it's stupid and a total fabrication but the race was just great. Didn't make a whole bunch - but we were euphoric. Wow!
And just to cap it off, a horse named "Steve's Escape" came out of nowhere to win. Ha ha!

Sounds like you had an nice day at the races. :) A little excitement like that is good for everybody.
"Steve's escape" ? LOL ! Did that horse win you some money as well ?
