MP3 of the week

I've been doing some CD-box diving in my quest for Stuff to Listen to While Writing, and the Breeders turned up. Forgot what a great album this is. Some of you older farts out there will remember "Cannonball."

The Breeders - Cannonball

The Breeders - I Just Wanna Get Along

OH my goodness, I can't remember the last time I heard "Cannonball." I'm very tempted to pull out my Elastica CD now. And maybe some Juliana Hatfield, Luscious Jackson, Matthew Sweet, Jennifer Trynin... suddenly, college seems so long ago.

Thanks for posting those!

(There's a typo in the second link, btw).

God, I SO know what you mean... all this good stuff you listened to when you were a wet-behind-the-ears freshman. Makes me feel so old.

Thanks for the heads-up - I fixed it!

Wow, Cannonball! I’d forgotten about that one. Such a simple little riff, but so catchy. Thank you from the bottom of my ears...ewwww, waxy!

Oh yes, and I am an ‘older fart’ as I was reminded today when I was trying to explain to [livejournal.com profile] recalcitrant who Laurie Anderson is. Playing her O Superman just didn’t help. Ah, young people today...<mutter><mutter>

*grins* To be honest, I didn't know who Laurie Anderson was either until a friend enlightened me, and that was within the last two years. You're welcome for the MP3!

Yup, I do like Speechless, but Big Science is probably still my favourite. The two albums I know best are Big Science and Mister Heartbreak. I saw her at the Adelaide Festival in 1984 (I think) which was the Home of the Brave tour. She just gave a concert here in Melbourne last Saturday, but unfortunately (prior engagements + sudden family visit + poverty + general disorganization) prevented me from going. Still that’s $55 I can put towards my new hard disk fund. In theory.
